Athletic Registration & BOUND information

Physicals and Participation Requirements

For participating in School-Sponsored/Supported Sports and High School Clay Target Teams

De Smet School District encourages extra-curricular activity participation – and DHS students in grades 7-12 have many opportunities to participate in these activities.

  • Students who wish to participate in school-sponsored/supported sports in 2026-2027 may do so when the following steps are completed:
    1. The student has a sports physical on or after April 1, 2026, using DE SMET ATHLETIC PHYSICAL & HEALTH HISTORY FORMS (with printed copies available in the middle/high school office).
    2. The parent/guardian UPLOADS both pages of the new physical into the BOUND student-management system when registering the student for each sport/activity.
      • ACTIVITY/BOUND Registration instructions are on page 1 of the physical form and below.
      • Parents/guardians may register their students any time after the student has a new physical dated on or after April 1, 2026.
      • Physicals dated on or after April 1, 2026, will count for the full 2026-2027 academic year.
      • Printed, faxed, and emailed versions of the physical form will not be accepted. - Do not bring your forms to the office; you must register and complete forms on BOUND
      • Each sport requires separate registration (by the parent/guardian), and full registration is required prior to practice. To register, please follow the instructions on page 1 of the physical form. (Make sure you start by choosing "Registration" from; https://www.gobound.com/sd/schools/desmet do not go into the BOUND app or sport first.)
      • Make sure you scroll to the end of the registration pages and click the "Next" and "Complete Registration" options.
  • ACTIVITY/BOUND REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
    • Each sport/activity requires separate registration by the student's PARENT/GUARDIAN in the BOUND student-management program.
    • Students cannot register themselves in BOUND, and registration CANNOT be done through the BOUND App.
    • Parents (or guardians), you must register your student/s for each selected sport/activity by selecting the Registration option from the following site: https://www.gobound.com/sd/schools/desmet. (Important: select "Registration" from the main navigation; do NOT go into the sport first.)
    • After you select Registration, you will be asked to log into your family account (or to create a family account).
    • After you create or log into your family account, please select 2026-2027 for the year if "2025-2026" is still showing.
    • Find (or add) your student and click on the Register button for that student. If your student does not show up, please contact the Athletic Director or Mrs. Perry so they can add them.
    • Find the appropriate sport and level and then go through the steps as prompted in the BOUND system, using PDF or JPG files for the physical form pages. (Please convert any HEIC files to JPG files; make sure the file size is not lower than medium; and do not cut off any edges of the physical form.)
    • Make sure you ALSO scroll to the end of the registration pages and click the "Next" and "Complete" options.
      • Although you may initially receive a notification that BOUND registration is complete, that completion is pending the review of the uploaded physical form. If both pages of the physical form are not complete, the physical will be deleted so that it can be fully completed and re-uploaded. When that occurs, you will receive a "Physical Form deleted/rejected" notification from BOUND, typically along with another email from De Smet that specifies what is missing from the physical form.
      • Email notifications will be sent to the email you enter into the BOUND system.
      • If the student's physical form includes a note requiring further evaluation for clearance, please upload the clearance (with the medical professional's signature) into the BOUND system once you receive that official clearance. After you upload the clearance documentation, please also notify the DHS Activities department.
    • Students who wish to be managers for a given sport should be registered under the manager registration options for those sports. (For managers, a sports physical is not required.)
      • Make sure you add all names and emails of all those you want to receive sports-related communications.
  • IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, PARENTS AND STUDENTS SHOULD ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING:

NOTE: Clay Target will sign up for Fall and/or Spring. Clay Target athletes do not need a sports physical

CO-OP SPORTS (WRESTLING) WILL NEED TO REGISTER WITH ARLINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT (There is an option on the De Smet site to choose Arlington, so you do not need to go to their BOUND website)
